9 Best TVs Under $900 Of 2022! (Tested & Ranked!)

Antonio Forde

12 min read

$900 will buy you a lot in the wide world of TVs these days. However, I found that if you truly want top-of-the-line features mixed with an advanced yet simplistic, never-ending online interface, you’ll opt for the Samsung 55-Inch Class QLED Q70A.

How I Picked
Price Range

There is a ring of truth to the Old Testament of you get what you pay for. That said, setting a budget and vowing to stick with it will be the best starting point for making a wise and informed purchase.

Size

Everyone would love a Super Bowl-sized TV. Unfortunately, this isn’t always practical and sometimes not even possible. Carefully, and properly measuring your place of installation will be the next crucial step.

Screen Type

I ran into a multitude of confusing acronyms and technical terms in sense of screen styles. However, I discovered that in 2022 it really comes down to LCD or OLED. Although each is great with its own outlying qualities, you’ll need to know which best fits into your style.

Resolution

I also found resolutions confusing. 1080p, 4K, 720p! I had no idea what any of it meant. However, I quickly discovered with all the TV technologies available today it simply doesn’t make sense to invest in anything less than 4K.

While it is common for TVs in 2022 to upgrade viewing content to 4K quality, there are very few that do it as well as the Q70A.

Samsung has worked long and hard to build a reputable brand in the TV industry.

Products like the Q70A are a testament to why they’ve reached the top and remain there.

It is not uncommon for TVs today to take regular content and turn it into stunning 4K.

However, the Q70A does this particularly well with its powerful Quantum 4K processor and Motion Xcelerator Turbo technology.

With the Xcelerator Turbo technology, you don’t just get 4K quality; you get it delivered at 120Hz.

Samsung also introduced a Dual LED Backlighting system that takes coloring and contrast to all-new heights.

With one system solely dedicated to warm colors and another to cool colors, you get a color palette and contrast that is hard to match.

A billion stay-true shades of breathtaking color produce 100% color volume. Quantum HDR technology takes the range of colors even further.

Built-in voice options like Alexa only make operating this monstrosity of a TV much more pleasing.

You can quickly connect smartphones and mirror their screen in beautiful 55-Inch QLED quality for even more convenience and viewing pleasure.

Despite the lightning-fast processing and real-life color quality, I found the no-strings-attached content the best.

With access to thousands of free-TV subscriptions, movies, and sports, you could actually end up saving money with this TV by cutting back on your paid subscriptions.

You’d still have plenty of access to top content and a plethora of gaming and external connection options with the multitude of HDMI ports.

Speaking of going big, the X85J goes extremely big with this beautifully well-crafted LED screen.

The TV weighs under 40 pounds, making it easier than most to move and mount.

While the TV is monstrous in screen size and offerings, it still maintains a practical footprint of 13.3” x 57.1” x 35.6”.

Throw that in with the lighter weight, and this TV will fit in a lot of spots where most 55-inch

TVs wouldn’t fit. Heck, it might fit in some places where 50-inch models wouldn’t fit.

With the size out of the way, we can get down to the more important features. The X95J does an exceptional job of upscaling content to beautiful 4K.

Pictures and images will be delivered with rich real-world detail and texture. The 4K X-

Reality PRO makes all this more possible.

If you really want to see how this TVV shines, go back and watch old movies or TV shows. The

One of the greatest things I discovered about the X85J was its ability to automatically process every image and make it more colorful, precise, and picture quality that is so close to life that it is scary.

With 120Hz or fast refresh rate, blurs and low latency are unheard of. Even the brightest, most

colorful, lifelike scenes will be presented in the crystal clearest imaginable.

Color and realism explode on the screen and come to life. Every day is like the 4th Of July with the 55U8G.

To start, the 55U8G is the younger, more impressive brother to the Hisense H9G.

The H9G is still a good buy to this day. However, it did have its share of problems with the lack of some features.

The 55U8G is the answer to all those previous problems with the addition of an arsenal of today’s TV technologies.

It’s not just 4K; it’s better than 4K, thanks to the boosted ULED technologies.

The enhanced Quantum Dot Wide Color Gamut offers access to over a billion shades of color. Still, those colors are even richer, purer, and more accurate than other LCD offerings.

Ultra-motion, along with the blitzing fast 120Hz refresh rate do away with all the previous “digital noise.” You’ll always be served up a clear, smooth picture.

Even during the fastest fast-action sequences, you’ll always get clear cinematic-like pictures. The 120Hz refresh rate also goes wonders for the gaming side of things.

When you combine that with the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos HDR, you will film-quality pictures with the utmost realism in every scene.

If you want to take things even further, the IMAX Enhanced technology is always available. You can truly bring the cinema to your living room with this technology.

Combining digitally remastered 4K HDR content with the DTS audio technologies, you’ll get a visual and digital viewing experience that is so immersive you won’t know what to think.

In fact, the audio side of the 55U8G is one of the most impressive things about this TV.

Combing the DTS audio technology with the cinematic quality is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.

The full array of local dimming zones with the anti-glare panel and the extremely powerful 1500 nit peak brightness is like looking right into the sun without burning your eyes.

The backlit voice remote control, along with the multitude of other smart features, only makes the great greater and more convenient.

The pixel technology steals the show with Vizio’s M6 Series TV.

You get over 8 million pixels working in conjunction to deliver and serve up billions of shades of vibrant color patterns.

The pixels alone are exceptional, but when you add in the Dolby Vision HDR technology, the viewing experience is taken to all-new heights.

Each of these individual pixels also provides its own backlighting, which gives users an evenly distributed uniform LED experience across the entire TV.

That’s what I loved most about this TV. You won’t see any slack of color fading at the edges.

The furthest edges of the TV will be as vibrant and beautiful as the dead center of the screen.

The Quantum Color technology only delivers cinematic colors, while the IQ Active Processor ensures everything gets delivered with the lowest latency rates possible.

You’ll get super smooth, seamless transitions during the fastest sequences.

You’ll get the smoothest responses and reactions possible, whether gaming or watching sports.

Everything is so near-instantaneous that you’ll never even know the TV has to think about processing it.

The automation grows even greater when you pair the M6 with your favorite subscription, smart devices, and voice assistants.

LG’s goal with the 75 Series was to deliver the most natural, lifelike viewing experience possible. I, for one, feel like they knocked it out of the park.

They took it to all-new levels with the perfect utilization of NanoCell technology and Nano Color.

With access to over billions of rich, enhanced colors, you’ll see things on the screen you’d never know were there with other models.

Thanks to the Quad-Core Processor, the view is so great and vibrant, but you never have to worry about the TV having trouble processing it.

This 4K processor always delivers clear, crisp, and concise smoothness without even thinking about it.

You won’t experience a nanosecond of latency, whether gaming or watching action movies.

Speaking of gaming, the 75 Series has its own dedicated gaming mode that only makes greatness even better.

With NanoCell, game optimizer, and HGiG, you’ll get smooth, easy responsiveness that delivers the most detailed sequences possible.

Don’t worry about hooking up external devices and gaming consoles because you’ll have access to plenty of input/output ports.

Google Assistant and Alexa only further the simplicity of navigation. In fact, wireless surround sound has never been easier.

With the compatible Bluetooth speakers, you can connect as many as two compatible speakers to create an audio experience that is out of this world.

Most TV manufacturers today overlook sound and audio, so there are so many soundbars and Bluetooth speakers available.

That’s not the case with the 75 Series.

Sony X80J 65 Inch TV: 4K Ultra HD LED Smart Google TV with Dolby Vision HDR and Alexa Compatibility KD65X80J- 2021 Model
Sony X80J 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD LED Smart Google TV

A mammoth of a TV that hits like a heavyweight but responds like a lightweight.

Check Price on Amazon

Sony’s 4K HDR Processor X1 takes regular content and upscales it into pictures and images that are smooth, clear, and of the utmost detail.

Heck, it takes existing 4K content and makes it even better.

Truly view sequences the way they were meant to be seen with widening color spectrums and a refresh rate that responds before you know what’s happening.

Motionflow XR technology only makes the fast even faster while still keeping it clear and smooth.

Dazzling detail with equally good color and contrast deliver ultra-high resolutions that are hard to mimic.

Work with Alexa, change channels, adjust volume, turn the TV off and on, and browse content with simple voice commands.

Pair with Google TV, and you’ll have nearly 700,000 plus movies and TV episodes to play with.

Although this is a mammoth of a TV, Sony does a fairly decent job maintaining a practical footprint.

Unfortunately, the TV is heavier, weighing almost 50 pounds, but the dimensions are workable at 57.63” x 13.38” x 31.88”.

Dolby Vision, along with Sony’s HDR technology, only makes the experience more cinematic and immersive.

You get all this with the backing of the Sony name!

Toshiba 43-Inch C350 Series LED 4K Fire TV

A bit smaller screen but backed with the industry’s biggest offerings.

Toshiba has staked its reputation on innovative designs and top technologies over the years.

While they are more well known in the computer industry, it won’t be long before they make a name for themselves in the TV market.

At only 43-inches, this TV weighs 15 pounds and produces practical dimensions of 37.9” 2.9” x 22”.

With its wall mount or standing applications and convenient build, this TV will fit nearly anywhere.

In fact, the TV was specially designed with an essential beauty philosophy to add more elegance and grace to the room where it is installed.

The beautiful horizontal and vertical contouring lines mesh with the living space, while the beautiful black and chrome design makes the TV’s best feature pop.

This bad boy performs just as well as it looks. The Regza Engine 4K is the highest performance 4K engine offered by Toshiba, and it shows in the content.

Stunning pictures, more realistic colors, brighter contrast, and realism offer ultra 4K images, unlike anything you’ve likely seen before.

Dolby Vision HDR and the HDR 10 only transform all that much better. While all this is great, I found the audio capabilities most intriguing.

The DTS Virtual X technology combined with the visual appeal offers an immersive, cinematic-quality experience that is hard to beat.

Stunning realistic pictures and images are one thing, but when you throw them together with Toshiba’s immersive audio, it’ll be as if you’ve got your own personal cinema.

It’s the audio that takes the C350 from good to stellar.

Amazon Fire TV 55' Omni Series 4K UHD smart TV, hands-free with Alexa
Amazon Fire TV 55” Omni Series 4K UHD Smart TV

Most consumers have never heard the Omni name, but after seeing this 55-inch monster, they can’t stop singing their praises.

Check Price on Amazon

Bring TV back to life. Take regular, boring pictures and turn them into dazzling, bright, fly-off-the-screen content. That’s what the Omni 55-inch does.

At just 55 inches of screen size, this 4K TV weighs under 25 pounds without the stand, making it exceptionally light and maneuverable.

Its total footprint only consumes a space of 48.6” x 28.5” x 3.6”.

Extremely practical for the big-screen offering. In particular, I really liked this TV because of its privacy protection and simplistic interface.

Pair the 55 Omni with one of today’s popular voice assistant apps, and you can virtually tell the TV what you want it to do.

Connecting and configuring your other smart devices is as simple as plugging them in and letting the TV do the rest.

I always have peace of mind at night, knowing that the Omni isn’t monitoring what I’m saying or doing, thanks to the layers of privacy and encryption built into the TV.

With the simple push of a button, you can easily shut off all the microphones on the TV.

The Omni also brings new meaning to the term smart TV, as it learns and grows with your family.

While you’ll have the option of searching through thousands and thousands of hours of content, you likely won’t need to.

The TV constantly updates your home screen with recommendations based on your previous viewing sessions.

Take things even further with Airplay and share photos, videos, music, etc. The Omni really is your all-in-one entertainment source.

With a myriad of HDMI ports and audio inputs, you’ll have the option of experimenting with a wide array of external connections.

Pair with your favorite subscriptions like Netflix, Disney, or Prime, and go back and watch some of your past favorites.

It’ll be like you are seeing them for the first time with the Omni.

The content will leap off the screen in the most dazzling colorful, clear contrast you’ve ever seen.

The only downside to this model is that this particular version doesn’t support Dolby Vision.

Dolby Vision always offers a more cinematic viewing experience with the 65” and 75” models.

The 55” is still more than a spectacular buy with the ability to breed new life into the oldest, most boring content.

What Has to Be Considered When Picking a TV Under $900?

$900 is a lot of money. If I am going to spend $900 on a product, I want to know that I am getting quality.

Therefore, I took the time to put in the proper research and would advise anyone interested in a new TV to do the same.

I’ve done most of the work for you with the options above.

Although you do not have to go with any of the options above, you can use them as a guideline to help you decide.

After getting the budget out of the way, the most important will be uncovering your installation platform.

How much space do you have? Where are you going to install your TV? Do you want a wall mount application for a stand?

You can’t put a 65” TV in a space designed for 55”.

Getting these configurations out of the way will help narrow your market even more. From here, it will be just deciding your favorite features.

Are you also going to the game? Do you want smart capabilities along with voice controls?

Deciding on these few things, along with the type of screen, will even further narrow your options.

Read carefully over the models above, understand what they have to offer, and apply your favorite features to your decision.
